Meet Dr. Shapiro
Dr. Shapiro grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2013. He then moved to Massachusetts and his obtained Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2017 where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Shapiro never looked back after moving to Massachusetts and fell in love with the people and community of the South Shore of Massachusetts. He completed his Residency and served as the Chief Resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Boston University School of Dental Medicine and trained at several local hospitals including Boston Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and the Veteran Affairs Medical Center of Boston. Dr. Shapiro has completed extensive training in maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, pathology, reconstructive jaw surgery, TMJ surgery, adult and pediatric anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, and dental implants. In his free time, Dr. Shapiro enjoys many pastimes including building cars, aquariums, and mountain biking. He most enjoys going hiking in New England with his wife Nicole, and best friend and dog, Rupert.
During his residency training, Dr. Shapiro gravitated towards the mentorship of Dr. David Lustbader and close colleague Dr. Michael Shemkus and joined the team and South Shore Oral Surgery Associates in July of 2021. Dr. Shapiro hopes to empower and inspire patients to optimize their oral health through use of cutting edge technology and digital surgical planning. He has unique training and passion for robotic guided implant placement and full mouth rehabilitation. He also has particular interest in Corrective Jaw Surgery and looks forward to presenting novel research at the 2021 American Association or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons annual meeting.
Dr. Shapiro is a board-eligible Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a member of the American Dental Association, Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, Massachusetts Dental Society, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and American Association or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He maintains certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
