Meet Dr. Shemkus

Dr. Shemkus received his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was elected into the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a membership given to students graduating in the top 10 percent of their class.   He completed his Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Boston University Medical Center, a level 1 trauma hospital, where he had extensive training in dentoalveolar surgery, maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, pathology, surgical oncology, office-based anesthesia, implant and pre-prosthetic surgery.

After completing his residency training, Dr. Shemkus joined South Shore Oral Surgery Associates in July of 2019.  Dr. Shemkus is committed to providing exceptional care for his patients. He utilizes the most current technology and treatment options including robot assisted implant surgery, computer guided surgery and CT technology for surgical placement of dental implants.

Dr. Shemkus is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a member of the American Dental Association.  His clinical interests include dentoalveolar surgery, implant surgery, office-based anesthesia, oral pathology, and maxillofacial trauma.  He is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

He speaks fluent Spanish.
